07:45 AM - 16:30 PM **UPDATED** YM Drill - SWAN ISLAND
***UPDATED***
Just a reminder that our scheduled drill for next Saturday, 6/13/09 is set for the Navy-Marine Corps Reserve Center down on Swan Island.  The entire drill day is being held down on Swan Island.  Please bring your YM/Recruit there by 0745 just like normal.  Drill is over as soon as the graduation ceremony is completed.

YOUNG MARINES

The CO/XO have required ATTENDANCE on this day.  You are required to attend this drill to show your support for PLT 61309.  This is an important day.  The only person that can excuse attendance is the UC Mr. Hildebrant.  He leaves on 6/6/09 for two weeks of playing Marines for his annual training so plan accordingly.  He can be reached at emrinell{at}hotmail.com or 503-328-9136 prior to 6/6/09Uniform of the day for the graduation ceremonies is cammie alpha.

RECRUITS

You are expected to be in attendance for the entire drill day.  (There are some recruits that don't understand this is a regular drill day and not just the ceremony.)  The ceremony itself begins at 1400.  Parents and guests are welcome to begin arriving no earlier than 1300.

6735 N. Basin Ave.

Portland, Oregon 97217

BE SURE this is NOT the day you are driving without your ODL/WDL.  You will need to show your ID when you enter the compound.  The Navy/Marine Corps drill center is next door to the Coast Guard drill center.  You will enter through the Coast Guard drill center gate and drive straight back.  You will be paralleling the chain link fence that separates the two compounds.  All the way to the back there is a gate that allows you to cross over to the Navy/Marine Corps side.  You can park in the front or the back of the building.  Each side has you enter right onto the parade deck where the graduation ceremony will be held.  In the morning, the front door will be closer to the Sign In/Out table.

08:15 AM Parent Meeting
Parent Meetings continue to be every other month on the first drill of the month beginning at approximately 0815. This is a good time to come find out any new stuff, ask questions, get clarifications, share concerns (constructively), make suggestions, etc.

It's also nice for staff to have a dialogue with the parents to make sure we're all on the same page and we're moving forward for the benefit of the children in our unit. With a unit this size, staff sometimes feels disconnected with the parents and these meetings are a wonderful time for us to meet face to face and get to know one another.

Beginning in November, coffee and pastries will be provided! Yummy!

The meeting dates are as follows:

November 1
January 10, 2009
March 7
May 2
July 11 (rescheduled for 6/13/09)
September 5 (if drill held, otherwise September 19)
